This chronology is the period during which the great French styles were in force between
the fifteenth and the early twentieth century.
The dates mentioned refer to kingdoms or major historical events, and mark a
transition between two clearly defined styles. They should not however be considered
bulkheads: so many styles persist a decade after their "official" date of abandonment
or habit artisans, either by clients taste sponsors, eager to complete the decoration
a house retaining the style already in place.
